Wind Flag & Indicator Color selection.
Here are some of the flags and props that were used in testing colors. These examples were to test flag material that was already colored to get away from painting. Again it was decided that the white inside(far right) was more important so this idea was dropped.
Also the bright Yellow & Orange like in the props was not as visible as dark blue and bright red.
Ops forgot the tails. We tried all kinds of tail material including some of the sail tails that are popular and found we liked the cheap surveyors tape the best with its main purpose being to show turbulence and quick wind shift. (Tail Tucks).
The Tail in itself is a very poor indicator of wind velocity. Thats the job of the Indicators and well designed props.
